Eyelash Extensions. What are they made of?

http://teasesalonboise.com/

Application of Boise Eyelash Extensions is a growing trend and people love the experience of having their lashes applied at Tease Hair and Lash Studio. When people inquire about eyelash extensions, one question we often get is, “What are eyelash extensions made of?” Many people have been lead to believe that all eyelash extensions are made of actual silk or mink animal fur. As much as all the marketing companies would like consumers to believe this, it is just not true. All eyelash extensions (with the exception of actual animal fur) are made from PBT Fiber. This is the same material used for toothbrush bristles and is very similar to nylon. The words “silk” and “mink” are simply attractive marketing words used by manufacturers to describe the finishes of their lashes. Silk is usually a shiny, glossy finish, while mink is more of a matte finish. At Tease Hair and Lash Studio in Boise, we have both “silk” and “mink” eyelash extensions in many lengths, weights, and styles. We also have colored and glitter lashes available as an upgraded service. Eyelash extensions can also be made from real mink animal fur, or some other type of fur. However, people are more likely to have an allergic reaction to real animal fur eyelash extensions. Therefore, we only offer eyelash extensions made from PBT fiber. Eyelash extensions made from PBT fiber offer a wide variety of options to create different looks. At Tease Hair and Lash Studio, we have the lashes on hand to give you the look you want. Whether you want your eyelash extensions to have a soft, wispy appearance, or a bold, thick mascara look, we have the materials on hand to make it happen!

The other component to placement of Boise Eyelash Extensions is the adhesive used to attach the extension to the natural lash. All eyelash extension adhesives have the same base ingredients with small differences between the brands. Many marketing companies out there have lead consumers to believe that certain eyelash extension glues are healthier than others. Some companies would even have consumers believe that eyelash extension adhesive is “medical-grade” and safe for use on human skin. However, the truth is that, these adhesive are never used on human skin, and all eyelash extension adhesives emit a trace amount of formaldehyde during the curing process. The exposure is far less than when using household cleaning products. There are differences in eyelash extension adhesives that make some adhesives less fumy than others and are marketed as hypoallergenic. This provides little benefit to the consumer because, when applied safely and correctly, the consumer should not smell or feel the effects of eyelash extension fumes. Currently, all of the eyelash extension adhesives contain cyanoacrylate, which cures through moisture in the air. At Tease Hair and Lash Studio, we keep adequate moisture in our lash room so that the adhesive is curing on contact. This ideal environment ensures good retention for your eyelash extensions and also prevents burning and stinging of the eyes during and at the end of the service. A small percentage of the population is allergic to eyelash extension adhesive. This allergy can develop in a person even after many successful applications of eyelash extensions. The development of this allergy is not due to differences in the brands of the adhesive used and should not be attributed to one adhesive over another. It is simply the reaction of an individual person to the cyanoacrylate. If someone experiences an allergic reaction after application of the lashes, then switching adhesives is not the answer. At that point, the only safe advice is to remove the lashes and never reapply. At Tease, we strive to provide accurate information to our clients and will not attempt to glamorize the facts about eyelash extensions. Now, with all of that in mind, come see us for a consultation and explore how eyelash extensions can frame and dress up your eyes as well as make your daily routine easier.
