You will probably agree when I
say, graphics tablet is a must have if you’re a digital artist. The problem is,
we have a plethora of models with different features and capabilities to choose
from, making deciding which one you need a hard task. In this Best
drawing tablet 2017 list I’ll try to make things easier for you.
The first thing you’ll have to
decide when buying a drawing tablet is will you get a pad tablet or a display
tablet? Pad tablets translates your drawing to a computer screen, in a program
like adobe illustrator. On display
tablets you see what you’re drawing, on the tablet itself. The latter type
seems like an obvious choice, but they are more expensive, while the first ones
are cheaper and can offer pretty creative functionalities.
There are many more factors to
consider when buying draw tablets. How big will it be, will it have
customizable buttons, does it have high pressure sensitivities? Read about them in detail in the Buyer’s
guide at the end of the article.
Wacom CTL490DW is beautifully
designed entry-level Best drawing tablet before you invest
hundreds of dollars in a professional-level drawing tablet. The screen is 10 x 6.25 inches, giving you a sizeable
surface area to draw. It has 4 customizable buttons and the drivers are as
reliable as with any Wacom drawing tablet. The pen you get is very light,
simple and requires no battery, making it easily replaceable and low maintenance.
With the Wacom Intuos Draw you
get the ArtRage drawing software for free, but you can use it with any popular
drawing software. Unless you’re creating billboards or doing other commercial
work the 1024 levels of pressure will be enough for you.
On the negative side, its 8.25 x
6.7” size might be a bit too small for some of you, especially if you have a
large monitor (a small movement on the tablet is going to equal a significant
movement on the screen). The tablet lacks multi touch (the Wacom Intuos Art Pen
and Touch is basically the same tablet, but with multi-touch) and other
goodies, like pen tilt or rotation.
The Wacom Intuos Draw CTL490DW
has a low price, great design and is very reliable. This, along with the free
drawing software and tutorials makes it a perfect starting point for a beginner
and a great gift.
